Experience the heart of Italy's countryside with our hearty pulses and cereals. These were once dried and saved for winter by the locals, often seasoned with garlic, rosemary, and sage. We offer a pre-soaked mix, quick cook version range.

 

LENTILS (LENTICCHIE)

Our tiny, nutty, light brown lentils come from the Umbria region in Italy, an area renowned for its aromatic olive oil and inebriating truffles. Pre-soaked to allow a quick cooking time, they make great soups, for example when mixed with kale and pancetta, and are an excellent base for a healthy salad, for instance when mixed with soft goat cheese, beetroot and rainbow chard.

SPELT (FARRO)

An ancient wheat variety packed with fibre and low in gluten content, our farro grows in Umbria (Italy) and is partially hulled to give the perfect balance between nutrients and cooking time. Chewy and intensely nutty, it gives its best in soups and salads. Pair with garden peas, edamame beans, courgettes and asparagus for a green goodness salad, serve with a lemon and herb dressing.

PULSES & CEREALS MIXES

At the heart of Italy’s countryside tradition are hearty, rustic soups of pulses and cereals that ploughmen used to dry and save for winter. Borlotti and cannellini beans, pearl barley, lentils, peas and many more are cooked together and seasoned with garlic, rosemary and sage. Our blends include a quick-cooking, pre-soaked mix, and a traditional version.
