With the summer season now finally in full swing, sunshine and al-fresco dining brings cheer, vibrancy, and fresh flavours to our plates once more. In celebration of summer, we are focusing this ingredient spotlight on our range of pepper products. Once an exclusive Mediterranean import, red and yellow peppers are now an integral ingredient in endless summertime recipes. Their sweet yet delicate taste allows for infinite flavour combinations, rendering them arguably one of the most versatile vegetable ingredients there is; captivating as the central focus of a dish and perfect for adding delectable depth of flavour to sauces and sides.
Lending themselves as an easy to pair ingredient to boost any dish with sweetness and colour, our range of Sorriso® roasted peppers comprises of marinated and roasted red and yellow peppers in sunflower oil (dices, strips or slices), peperonata and puree. Our range of roasted peppers can be used in a multitude of dishes.
A roasted pepper and burrata salad is one of our favourite ways to enjoy this vegetable. Sorriso® roasted red peppers are perfect when layered with torn chunks of creamy burrata, before a drizzle of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and fragrant fresh basil dresses the dish. Finish with a sprinkle of flaky sea salt and enjoy as an antipasto throughout the summer months.
Sorriso sweet red drop® and sweet yellow drop® peppers are tiny sweet and sour peppers cured in sweet vinegar to give a fresh, fruity, and zingy touch to pizzas, salads, and antipasti platters. We love these peppers on stone baked pizza with creamy buffalo mozzarella, smoky chipotle chargrilled peppers and spicy sausage, perfectly crisped in the oven. They are an equally delightful addition atop a roasted sweet potato salad combined with a piquant harissa and coriander dressing, offering bursts of zingy flavour throughout.
An obvious flavour enhancer, our peppers are chargrilled to perfection and then roasted to refine the sweetness. Our low oil version beautifully retains the fresh taste and firm structure of freshly prepared grilled peppers. Chargrilled peppers are divine when served with grilled salmon in fresh Mediterranean dishes. Select a large salmon fillet and coat with our Sorriso® red pepper pesto, before placing on a bed of Sorriso® chargrilled red and yellow peppers and grilling until crisp.
