30 Years of Love for Good Food

30 Years of Love for Good Food

The love for good food has always been there since my childhood, when my summers in Italy’s Emilia Romagna, where my father’s roots lie, gave me cherished memories of fresh tortellini, piadina and bomboloni that would shape my taste and my foodie future.

When L’AQUILA was born I was running a traditional Italian pizza and pasta restaurant in Islington and, then like now, I wanted to bring the taste, quality and heritage of my Italian summers to my native London, to show and share this great food tradition.

Who would have said thirty years ago, starting off in my restaurant basement, that L’AQUILA would have become what it is now – a renowned specialist in Mediterranean vegetable ingredients, with customers all over the country.

These thirty years are the story of L’AQUILA, but also of this country’s food revolution. From the first truffles to the celebrity chefs’ “wild mushroom revolution” in the nineties, until the recent premiumisation of ready meals which has strengthened our long standing relationship with the food manufacturing sector. We continue to be in constant search of novelty and quality for a consumer base which is every day more discerning, curious and adventurous.

We are proud of helping our customers to create their perfect recipe with highly bespoke ingredients be it a truffle mac and cheese, porcini soup, chargrilled artichoke baguette or roasted vegetable pizza. We are proud to be part of the country’s food revolution, now and for the next 30 years.
